ICC judges challenged the Trump administration's sanctions in the US court

Three judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC), against whom sanctions were imposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, filed a lawsuit in an American court challenging the legality of these restrictive measures. This was announced on June 25 by a diplomatic source.

The lawsuit was filed, according to him, in the federal court of the Southern District of New York. The plaintiffs in personal status are three judges of the International Criminal Court — Kimberly Prost (Canada), Solomi Bossa (Uganda) and Rain Alapini-Gansu (Benin), reports TASS.

It clarifies that they are challenging the legality of the US president's decree on sanctions, arguing that the document goes beyond the powers of the head of state and violates the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution. The judges also demand to ban the use of these restrictive measures. This is the first case of a direct judicial challenge to sanctions against ICC judges.
