El Salvador to send rescuers and humanitarian aid to Venezuela

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said the country would send rescuers and necessary equipment to Venezuela after the earthquake.

"At the moment, we have offered assistance to the Venezuelan government through our Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he wrote on the social network.

He specified that 300 rescuers and paramedics, as well as 50 tons of equipment, medicines and necessary supplies are ready to go to Caracas.

The Reuters news agency reported on the same day that the Venezuelan authorities had declared a state of emergency after the devastating earthquake. The corresponding statement was made by the Commissioner of the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodriguez.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred on June 24 in the Venezuelan state of Yaracuy in the north of the country. It is noted that the source of the natural cataclysm lay at a depth of 13 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe.
