The State Duma proposed to introduce a register of missing and found pets

On June 24, deputies of the State Duma proposed creating a federal register of lost and found pets.

"Considering the above, I beg you <...> consider the possibility of creating a federal register of lost and found pets, providing for the posting of information about missing and found pets, searching by photo, description, location, chip, brand or other identifier," RIA Novosti cites the text of the document.

The authors of the initiative clarified that the system can be integrated into the Gosuslugi portal, regional digital services, the work of shelters, veterinary clinics and local governments.

According to the deputies, the appearance of the registry will make it possible to return pets to their owners faster in the first days after the loss. The project is also designed to reduce the burden on volunteers and shelters, reduce the number of stray animals on the streets and create a unified algorithm of actions for citizens and relevant organizations.

The head of Rosprirodnadzor, Svetlana Radionova, announced on June 5 that the agency plans to toughen penalties for illegal trapping, trafficking and keeping of rare animals in Russia. It clarifies that this primarily concerns the captivity of prohibited species, including wild cats, bears and primates.

Alexander Spiridonov, a deputy from the United Russia party and a member of the working group on the treatment of stray animals, announced on March 21 that the State Duma plans to introduce bills banning the feeding and combating the trapping of stray animals.
