Buying goods on marketplaces does not always guarantee the lowest price, since the price on the product card includes not only production or purchase costs, but also site commissions, logistics, acquiring and promotion. Entrepreneur Vladislav Poshushin told Izvestia about this on June 28.

According to him, marketplaces remain one of the most popular online shopping channels due to the convenience of search, comparison of offers and fast delivery. However, many buyers limit themselves to studying the offers on the sites and do not check prices on the official websites of brands or in online stores of sellers.

The expert noted that the final cost of the product is formed from several components. So, in the clothing category, about 20% of the price is accounted for by the cost of production, about 20% more by logistics, about 35% is occupied by the marketplace commission, about 3.5% by acquiring and about 5% by advertising expenses.

"Therefore, the same product may cost differently on the marketplace and on the manufacturer's website. With a direct sale, the seller does not need to pay a commission to the site, and logistics costs are often lower," explained Poshushin.

The cost is also affected by the country of origin of the product. According to the entrepreneur, products supplied directly from China often turn out to be cheaper due to lower costs for taxes, labeling, certification and financing. However, such savings may be accompanied by less convenient refund terms.

The expert stressed that when choosing a product, it is important to take into account not only the price, but also the delivery time, the possibility of fitting, the terms of return and the total cost of the order. This is especially true for clothing, shoes, and other product categories, where customers often order multiple options at the same time with the opportunity to return unsuitable items.

Posyushin also recommends comparing offers on different sites, including manufacturers' websites and sellers' online stores, especially when it comes to expensive purchases. At the same time, you should focus not only on the price in the product card, but also on the total amount after placing the order, taking into account delivery and additional costs.

According to the expert, marketplaces remain a convenient tool for purchases due to advanced logistics and refund services, but buyers should not perceive the price indicated on the site as the only possible one. Before placing an order, it is recommended to explore all available purchase options and compare conditions with different sellers.

Sergey Prishchepko, Director of Marketplace Operations at E-Promo Group, explained to Izvestia on June 24 why stores are going offline. According to him, this is not so much an independent sales channel as a tool to strengthen control over the customer experience. Against the background of rising traffic prices, high competition within platforms and a decrease in the effectiveness of digital advertising, companies are looking for new ways to interact with customers.
