The Russian Foreign Ministry called the West's use of Russia's frozen assets a robbery

The use of frozen Russian assets by Western countries would constitute robbery. This was announced on June 23 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov at the Primakov Readings forum, which takes place on June 23-24 in Moscow.

"Any use of Russian assets for purposes not coordinated with the Russian Federation is outright robbery. <...> Therefore, this is categorically unacceptable, unacceptable, and we will respond appropriately to such encroachments," Ryabkov said, answering a question about whether Moscow was concerned about the possibility that Washington could dispose of Russian assets at its discretion, as in the situation with Iran. The deputy minister's words are quoted by TASS.

The Deputy Minister also stressed that the issue of the future of the unfrozen Iranian assets is a sovereign decision of the Iranians.

"There are no other options," he concluded.
