A resident of Lipetsk stole a teddy bear worth more than 7 thousand rubles from a flower shop. He committed a crime for the sake of his beloved, the Interior Ministry-Media reported on Tuesday, June 23.

According to the man, the idea of the theft came to him during a romantic walk with a girl along the banks of the Voronezh River. Lipchanin decided to surprise her and left her for a while.

At that time, he went into the flower shop, took a toy from there and returned with the words: "My beloved baby, this is for you!". His companion, unaware of the gift's origin, gladly accepted it.

Later, the store's director filed a police report. The investigators studied the recordings from the surveillance cameras and interviewed the witnesses. As a result, it was possible to identify the suspect.

The bear's abductor turned out to be a 31-year-old townsman who had previously been convicted of property crimes multiple times. He was detained and taken to the department, writes GOROD48.

A criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Theft with significant damage". The defendant faces up to five years in prison.

The person involved is currently on his own recognizance. His girlfriend had to part with the criminal gift: the police seized the toy and returned it to its rightful owner.
