Russian schools will increase the number of history lessons by a third

There will be a third more history lessons in Russian schools. This was announced on June 23 in Moscow at the World Congress of School History Teachers.

The results of the unified state exam in this subject were also announced there, and they became significantly better than in 2025. The average score increased, and 260 graduates received the maximum possible 100 points.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the participants of the congress. According to him, studying the past of his homeland is one of the foundations of national identity.

On the same day, Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov announced that the number of graduates who scored 100 points on the Unified State Exam in history had increased from 155 last year to 260 this year. The minister also said that the average test score of the Unified State Exam in history in 2026 increased from 55.8 to 57.8, and the share of high-scoring students increased from 11.7 to 15%.
