The expert named the differences between fatigue and burnout
An expert on socio-economic policy, Yakov Yakubovich, told how to distinguish fatigue from burnout.
In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Tuesday, June 23, the specialist noted that Monday syndrome may be associated not only with fatigue after the weekend, but also with emotional or professional burnout.
According to him, the causes of this condition can be both physiological and psychological. In the first case, we are talking about a disrupted sleep schedule and attempts to sleep off the weekend, in the second — about dissatisfaction with work, conflicts in the team, low motivation or overload of tasks.
The expert noted that if thoughts about work regularly cause anxiety, apathy, or even physical discomfort, this can be an alarming signal. In such a situation, you should either look for a new job, or reconsider your attitude to responsibilities, career goals, and work processes.
To reduce stress, Yakubovich advised planning tasks for Monday in advance, leaving time for rest on Sunday, and honestly answering the question of whether the reluctance to go to work is due to fatigue or the fact that the work itself has ceased to suit.
Psychologist Yulia Stolyarova said on June 22 that anxiety on Sunday evening may increase due to the sharp contrast between the weekend and the upcoming working week. With burnout, resources are depleted, so returning to work can be perceived as a threat and loss of control, writes RT.
At the same time, a study by insurance broker Mains showed that 44.7% of IT professionals in Russia are experiencing significant emotional exhaustion. Employees aged 22-35 had the most stressful burnout situation. Among those who plan to quit, the share of emotional exhaustion reaches 67.8%, according to RIAMO.
Before that, on June 8, experts explained the physiological causes of human burnout. Psychological stress can successfully disguise itself as physical weakness, impairing concentration and sleep.
In May, a study by HR Lab and the Academy of Health showed that accountants and software testers are more likely to experience fatigue at work. 71% of the surveyed accountants, 67% of bank employees and 65% of testers reported fatigue at work. The reasons given were the need to use large amounts of data and documents, and maintain attention to detail. 360.ru .
At the same time, Maria Mitronova, the founder and CEO of the recruitment agency, said that employee burnout today makes it much more difficult to develop a business. According to her, about 30% of companies have experienced employee burnout. About 53% of candidates behave this way because of burnout, and about 50% — because of lack of prospects, NSN notes.
