Czech President Petr Pavel has filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court of the republic in connection with the government's decision not to include him in the delegation to the upcoming NATO summit. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on June 23.

"Czech President Petr Pavel has filed an appeal to the Constitutional Court over the scope of his powers after the government refused to allow him to lead the Czech delegation to the NATO summit," the publication says.

The NATO summit is scheduled for July 7-8 in Ankara. According to the presidential office, the Czech government decided not to include the head of state in the official delegation, which caused his disagreement.

The presidential administration said that Pyotr Pavel regards this step as unprecedented and limiting the constitutional powers of the head of state.

In the filed lawsuit, he asks the court to clarify the distribution of powers between the president and the government in matters of participation in international events or to oblige the Cabinet of Ministers not to create obstacles to the participation of the head of state in such summits.
