Russian mountaineer Alina Pekova was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest woman to conquer all the highest mountains in the world. The athlete announced this on June 23 in social networks.

"Now I am officially listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest woman to climb all 14 eight—thousandth peaks in the world," Pekova wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

She set this record at the age of 31 in October 2024, having conquered the last of the "eight thousand meters" Mount Shishabangma in the Himalayas with a height of 8027 m.

On May 20, Russian paraalpinist Rustam Nabiev became the first person in history to climb Mount Everest on one hand. He dedicated the ascent to people with inclusions and urged them to "fight to the end." In an interview with Izvestia, he shared that the most difficult test was the Khumbu icefall, a constantly moving icy river where people regularly die. The athlete overcame this section for 15 hours on his hands without stopping.
