In the Netherlands, for the first time, it was allowed to use euthanasia on a child under 12 years old.

The Dutch Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the kingdom's first euthanasia procedure for a terminally ill child aged one to 12 years. This was reported on June 23 by the NOS TV channel with reference to a letter from the country's Minister of Health, Sophie Hermans, sent to members of parliament.

A special ministerial commission to assess such cases has already examined the circumstances of the case. The commission members had a conversation with the doctor who organized the procedure, after which they sent their official opinion to the supervisory authority.
