Chinese cars turned out to be the most in-demand "donors" in the Russian Federation

In 2026, Chinese cars turned out to be the most in-demand cars in Russia, which are sold at auction and serve buyers as "donors" for repairing their cars. This follows from the data of analysts of the Migtorg online auction, which Izvestia reviewed on June 23.

The sample includes data on more than 1.8 thousand cars sold at auctions since the beginning of the year. Insurance companies recognize such machines as economically impractical for restoration, but most of them are still suitable for disassembly for spare parts. The share of Chinese models was 34.7% of the total, the average price of the "donor" was 913 thousand rubles.

This is followed by German cars, which took a share of 27.8% (the average price is 711 thousand rubles). Then there are models of Russian (19.2%; 221 thousand rubles) and South Korean brands (8.9%; 400 thousand rubles).

Experts noted that broken cars are increasingly being considered as a source of spare parts for repairing other cars. The buyer purchases a damaged car at auction, disassembles it and uses the necessary parts — engine, gearbox, optics, electronics, body elements — on his car. This often turns out to be more profitable than buying each spare part separately, analysts said.

Earlier, on June 11, it was reported that average maintenance receipts for a number of common car models in Russia increased in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. In 2026, owners of some mass-produced models began to visit the service more often, and the cost of a visit increased significantly for most cars. This is largely due to the natural aging of the park, experts explained.
