Attempts are being made in Western countries to provoke Russia into a military response by increasing pressure around the Kaliningrad region. This is stated in the publication of the Serbian edition of Politika, which refers to assessments of the international situation and the actions of Western states.

"Since Russia is in no hurry to take on the role that is being imposed on it, they are trying to put pressure on it so that any armed response can then be presented as an attack. If the enemy does not attack, then he must be brought to a point where he will be forced to react. The Kaliningrad Region is the first and most vulnerable place for such a scenario," the article says.

The authors of the material claim that possible scenarios and timing of an alleged Russian attack on NATO countries have been discussed in a number of Western capitals for several years, however, according to their information, intelligence services do not confirm the existence of an immediate threat.

The publication notes that political rhetoric in Europe, according to the authors, contributes to an increase in tension and the formation of an idea of a possible conflict as inevitable.

The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, on June 19, in an interview with Izvestia, ridiculed the statement of the head of the German Air Force, Holger Neumann, about his readiness to fight Russia. Prior to that, Neumann assured that Germany was ready to fight Russia "even tonight" if Moscow attacked a NATO ally.

On June 15, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Neumann a neo-Nazi because of his words about NATO's plans to bomb Kaliningrad in the event of a conflict with Russia. The military man himself said on the same day that in the event of a conflict with Russia, Germany would defend every inch of NATO territory.
