President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent greetings to the participants, organizers and guests of the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. This year's Forum is held under the slogan "Time to be right." The appeal is posted on the Kremlin's official website.

In his welcoming speech, the Head of State stressed that the Forum has long earned the authority and status of one of the most representative and significant platforms for direct and comprehensive discussion of topical professional topics, as well as joint search and development of solutions that contribute to the development of international law, the improvement of national legal systems and the formation of promising legislative initiatives.

"Of course, today the key task is to strengthen the rule of law in organizing the life of society, regulating relations in all areas – in politics and economics, public, humanitarian and social spheres, and, of course, in international affairs. Only on the solid basis of universally recognized legal norms and principles can we provide an effective response to the challenges of the 21st century, ensure global and regional stability and progress, and establish equal and mutually beneficial cooperation," Vladimir Putin said.

The Russian President also expressed confidence that the ideas and proposals formed within the framework of the Forum will serve to improve standard-setting and law enforcement practices, develop legal science and education, and contribute to deepening constructive dialogue and partnership in the legal community.

The XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is taking place in St. Petersburg from 24 to 26 June.
