Two for the Trapper: why "Michael" overtook "The Lackey 3" at the box office
Last weekend, cinema attendance dropped to 1.3 million viewers, according to the EAIS. The biopic "Michael" once again became the leader of the rental, earning 177.5 million rubles over the weekend and overtaking the comedy "Serf 3". The painting by Klima Shipenko dropped to second place and collected 167.5 million rubles. The third place is still occupied by the horror "Behind the Scenes of Reality" with a weekend box office of 72.4 million rubles. The most viewed novelty turned out to be the family comedy "Baby Monitor", which earned 39.5 million rubles. Izvestia assessed the preliminary results of the Russian box office over the past weekend.
"Serf 3" vs. "Michael"
From the first week of release, the biographical film "Michael", dedicated to the life and work of the king of pop music Michael Jackson, occupied the leading position in the box office, giving way only to the previous weekend's "Serf 3". According to the EAIS (Unified Federal Automatic Information System for information about film screenings in cinemas. — Ed.), last weekend the picture collected 177.5 million rubles, 56 million rubles less than a week earlier. The average number of viewers per session also decreased: 20 people instead of 25. Nevertheless, in this category, "Michael" turned out to be the record holder.

The second place was taken by the comedy "Serf 3", the sequel to the acclaimed franchise directed by Klim Shipenko. Her box office totaled 167.5 million rubles, which is approximately 94 million rubles less than last weekend. In two weeks of Russian film distribution, the film earned 554 million rubles.

— "Michael" is a real sensation, which attracted viewers not in the most active season and set an incredible precedent. The biopic has been on the screens for a month now — fans want to see the idol on the maximum scale, and hear their favorite songs in high quality, ensuring full immersion — this is possible only in the cinema. And "Serf 3" is an absolute brand and a long—running story, this comedy has all the data to stay in the top for at least another month, or even a month and a half. There are no films comparable in scale, stellar cast and sundress at the box office. A billion people will submit to the release, and then the situation will depend on the summer attendance of cinemas in general," Olga Zinyakova, president of the KARO cinema chain, said in an interview with Izvestia.

Completing the top three is the sci-fi horror film "Behind the Scenes of Reality." For the second week in a row, the painting has been ranked third. But if last weekend the film collected 123.5 million rubles, then this weekend — only 72.4 million rubles. The average number of viewers per session also decreased — from 21 to 17 people.
A new friend is no worse than the old two
The family comedy "Robonya", which was released on June 18, took the fourth place in the domestic box office following the results of its debut week. The film earned 39.5 million rubles.
The plot centers on a girl named Zlata, who forces her parents, who are going on vacation, to leave her alone at home. A robot named Notrix is left to monitor the child's behavior. But the quirky Zlata and her friend Nikita decide to outsmart artificial intelligence so that it starts playing by their rules. The plan of the guys leads to a series of unforeseen situations.

This is the first Russian film to feature a real Unitree G1 Basic robot. In addition, one of the most recognizable families of the Internet space, the Kukoyaki bloggers, took part in the film.
— "Baby Monitor" is a genre product for a family audience with a comfortable age limit, where the cast of the successful comedy "Not alone at Home" migrated. But here the influence of bloggers did not work — the film is unlikely to be able to seriously increase the box office, given the onslaught of competitors, Olga Zinyakova believes.
Another novelty that hooked the viewer was the South Korean zombie horror "Colony". At home, the picture is among the leaders of the rental. In the story, biotechnology professor Kwon Sae-jong arrives at one of the business centers for an industry conference and finds himself in the midst of a zombie invasion. Together with the other survivors trapped in the building, she will try to prevent the apocalypse.

Obsession continues to collect cash — she earned another 31.9 million rubles. The family comedy "Denis and Mani in the cinema!" is still at the top of the Russian box office. Over the weekend, the painting added another 10.2 million rubles to the piggy bank. The main characters are the popular online duo of Labrador Denis and sphinx Mani. Denis is forced to part with the cat due to moving to agent Andrey in connection with the received advertising contract. The Labrador will have to choose between fame and friendship, as well as help his new friend solve problems in his personal life.
