Not before the holidays: what will happen to children's holidays in Crimea
From June 22 to September 1, 2026, the Republic of Crimea will temporarily ban the booking and accommodation of children, as well as organized children's groups in recreation and recreation facilities and other accommodation facilities for participation in tourist, sightseeing and other events. The new restrictions will affect the summer holidays of minors and the organization of children's leisure activities in the region. The information about which facilities are subject to the new rules and which alternative vacation options remain available to children can be found in the Izvestia article.
What restrictions have been introduced for children's camps
The authorities of the Republic of Crimea have imposed temporary restrictions on the admission and placement of children in camps, sanatoriums and other accommodation facilities. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of the region Sergey Aksenov.
According to the document, from 11:00 a.m. on June 22 to September 1, 2026, seat reservations, reception and accommodation of children and organized children's groups in recreation and recreation organizations are suspended in the republic. The restrictions also apply to hotels, boarding houses and other accommodation facilities if children arrive to participate in tourist, sports, cultural or other organized events.
The ban covers sightseeing trips, gatherings, festivals, training camps and other mass events with the participation of children's groups.
Commenting on the decision, Sergey Aksenov called on residents and guests of the region to understand the restrictions. According to him, measures are necessary to ensure public safety in the current situation.
Which camps will be affected by the new restrictions
Artek International Children's Center, the most famous children's camp in Russia, was the first to announce the suspension of the admission of children. On the night of June 22, it became known about the cancellation of the next shifts and arrivals. Later, the Crimean authorities announced the introduction of a temporary ban on the booking and accommodation of children and organized children's groups in the republic until September 1.
The restrictions affect not only Artek, located in Gurzuf at the foot of Ayu-Dag Mountain, but also other children's camps and health facilities in Crimea. Among them is the children's health camp "Cypress" in Alushta, which annually accepts hundreds of children for summer shifts. The camp is known for its well-developed sports infrastructure, swimming pool and educational programs.
Arrivals to the Satera camp, located on the coast in the Solnechnogorsky area near Alushta, may also be subject to the ban. The institution specializes in children's recreation by the sea and conducts themed and sports shifts throughout the summer season.
Another major children's center in the region is the Laspi camp in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol. It is located on the shore of Laspin Bay and traditionally accepts children from different regions of the country for health and sports programs.
Thus, in fact, most organized children's trips to Crimea, which traditionally make up a significant part of the summer tourist season on the peninsula, are banned.
Why have the authorities imposed restrictions on the admission of children
The decision to temporarily ban the placement of children and organized children's groups was made against the background of a sharp deterioration in the situation in Crimea after a massive drone attack on June 21.
The most serious consequences were recorded on the Kerch Peninsula. According to the head of the republic, Sergey Aksyonov, four people were killed in the attack, and 28 others were injured in various degrees of severity. The strikes affected several areas of the peninsula. Emergency services continue to work on the ground, and medical assistance is being provided to the victims.
At the same time, the air defense forces repelled the attack on Sevastopol. According to Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, drones were shot down in the area of the North Side and Cape Fiolent. The authorities urged residents to take safety measures and avoid staying in open spaces.
Against the background of the incident, additional restrictions were introduced in the region. The Kerch ferry crossing has been temporarily suspended, and drivers have been advised to choose alternative routes due to restrictions on freight traffic across the Crimean Bridge. In addition, the authorities retained the previously introduced measures to limit the sale of fuel due to logistical difficulties.
Another problem was the malfunction of the power system. Residents were asked to reduce electricity consumption, and temporary shutdown schedules were announced in a number of areas.
Against this background, the republic's leadership decided to limit the admission of children to camps, sanatoriums and other accommodation facilities. According to Sergey Aksyonov, the measures are temporary in nature and are aimed at ensuring the safety of minors in conditions of continuing threat.
What to do for children in the summer
Despite the restrictions imposed on the work of children's camps and the admission of organized groups, schoolchildren and their parents still have alternative summer recreation and leisure options. Tourism industry experts point out that many programs can be moved to other regions or replaced with urban recreation formats.
One of the most popular options may be children's camps on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory. In summer, wellness centers are traditionally open in Anapa, Gelendzhik, Tuapse district and Sochi, where sports, creative and educational shifts are held.
An alternative to outdoor recreation can be urban day camps, which are organized on the basis of schools, sports complexes, art houses and cultural centers. As a rule, such programs include excursions, master classes, sports classes and educational activities without long-term stay away from home.
For children who were planning a trip to sports camps or thematic shifts, many federations and educational organizations are already considering the possibility of transferring events to other regions of Russia or transferring some of the programs to an online format.
In addition, summer holidays can be devoted to additional education. Intensive courses in programming, robotics, foreign languages, creative workshops and scientific schools are traditionally held in large cities. Many of them are designed for several weeks and allow you to combine rest with learning new skills.
Experts also recommend paying attention to family tourism. Trips to the regions of Russia, visits to nature parks, museums, historical sites and cultural festivals can become an alternative to organized camp holidays and allow children to spend their holidays actively and educationally.
At the same time, parents who have already purchased vouchers to Crimean camps or paid for their children's participation in organized events on the peninsula are advised to follow the information provided by the organizers. In the near future, many institutions will have to announce the procedure for refunding funds, postponing shifts, or replacing recreation programs.
