Russia increased imports of Georgian apples by 5.5 times in May
In May 2026, Russia increased imports of Georgian apples by more than five times compared to the same period last year. This was confirmed on June 21 by RIA Novosti calculations based on data from the Statistical Service of Georgia.
In May, Moscow bought $1.9 million worth of fruit from Tbilisi, compared with $346.1 thousand a year earlier. Thus, the volume of imports in monetary terms increased 5.5 times.
In total, four countries bought Georgian apples in May of this year. In addition to Russia, supplies were carried out to Turkey ($75.6 thousand), Armenia ($27.9 thousand) and Iraq ($26.9 thousand). Russia accounted for 94% of all exports of these products from Georgia.
On the same day, it became known from Eurostat data that Russia significantly increased imports of perfumes and toilet water from Italy in April. By the end of mid—spring, perfume supplies from Italy to Russia increased almost tenfold to €7.9 million against €775.9 thousand in March.
