- The psychologist explained the reason for the interest in watching TV series about maniacs
Interest in TV series and films about maniacs and murderers is related to the basic function of the psyche — the human desire to study and recognize threats. Psychologist Kristina Mizernaya told about this on June 21.
"It's a way to face fear in a safe environment. A person is watching the development of events, but at the same time remains outside the threat," said Misernaya. "Газете.Ru ".
She added that an important role is played by the desire to understand the motives of the criminal: modern TV series often show in detail the identity of the antagonist, his past and internal conflicts. This, according to the expert, creates the illusion of predictability of dangerous behavior and reduces the level of anxiety associated with uncertainty.
The psychologist called a separate mechanism the ability to control the intensity of emotions during viewing: the viewer chooses the content himself and can interrupt it if necessary. Also, such plots allow you to safely live suppressed emotions — anxiety, fear and interest in forbidden topics. At the same time, Misernaya stressed that interest in such series does not indicate a tendency to aggression or violence and reflects normal psychological processes.
Alexander Merkulov, co-founder of the City Squash squash club, said on May 25 that against the background of increasing anxiety and fatigue among Russians, sport is increasingly becoming a tool for emotional recovery. Intensive formats are better suited to relieve accumulated irritation: boxing, martial arts, strength training and functional training. In case of overwork and impaired concentration, on the contrary, calm practices are more effective — swimming, yoga, pilates, stretching or long walks.
