The world's tallest statue of Messi has been unveiled in Argentina.
The unveiling ceremony of the statue of Lionel Messi, the striker of the national team and Inter Miami, took place in Neuquen, Argentina. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on June 20.
"A 26-meter statue of Lionel Messi was unveiled in Neuquen this week, the work of self—taught sculptor Aldo Beroise, which he worked on for a whole year," the publication says.
The Argentine is depicted in a pose celebrating his victory at the 2022 World Cup: on his knees, a trophy between his legs, one hand on his chest, the other pointing to the sky.
On June 2, a 21-meter statue of Messi was dismantled in the Indian city of Kolkata due to complaints from local residents about its potential danger. A sculpture of a football player holding up the FIFA World Cup, which he won with Argentina in 2022, was located on the VIP road in Lake Town.
