The attacker in the Krasnodar shopping center was detained by one of the visitors
A young man who committed an attack in the Krasnodar shopping center (TC) West Mall was detained by one of the visitors. This was announced on June 20 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk in her Telegram channel.
"The attacker, who turned out to be a local resident born in 2007, was detained by a brave and caring eyewitness," she wrote.
Footage from the scene published by Izvestia shows that the attacker was wearing a black hoodie with the inscription "C.R.I.M.E." and dark trousers. The attacker has already been neutralized and is lying on the floor. He was surrounded by indignant eyewitnesses, with whom he entered into a dialogue, explaining the motives of his act.
"I'm just tired of life. I was tired of life. <...> I was planning to just kill myself," he said.
In response, one of the eyewitnesses pointed out the presence of children in the shopping center, and another said that he was forced to return to the West Mall in a hurry for his pregnant wife.
Izvestia also found out that the attacker turned out to be 19-year-old Grigory A. He came to the shopping center armed with a machete. At the entrance, he was stopped by one of the guards, who later became the first victim and is now in serious condition.
The fact that an armed attack by Izvestia took place in the Krasnodar shopping center West Mall was told by their source on the same day. Initially, it was reported that the tragedy, which killed a woman and injured five others, occurred in a Multifunctional center (MFC).
A woman named Oksana, the mother of one of the girls who witnessed the crime— shared with Izvestia that her daughter saw a young man pouring some liquid in the building. Another woman added that the attack lasted about half an hour during which screams, clapping and even shooting could be heard.
On June 20, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case in accordance with Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder") and Part 3 of Article 30 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Attempted murder").
