Tourists in China may encounter a number of fraudulent schemes, despite the high level of security in the country. Intruders exploit the gullibility and fatigue of foreigners. Chinese scholar Ksenia Razova told about this on June 20.
"A Russian tourist often thinks: if it's safe on the street in China, then it's safe everywhere. This is a mistake. In addition, Razova warned about the danger of fake QR codes. Fraudsters can place fake stickers on top of the original codes, which lead to third-party sites to steal data or money.
"The most dangerous word for a tourist is "urgent": "scan urgently", "pay urgently". In a normal place, a person always has time to check where they are," she noted.
The Chinese woman also spoke about the appearance of fake websites for issuing an electronic arrival card. Such resources charge a fee for the service, which is free on official government platforms.
