Sergunina noted the record attendance of the Moscow Jazz Festival

More than 1,000 artists from Russia and other countries took part in the fifth International Moscow Jazz Festival recently held in the capital. As noted by Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina, this season has become a record attendance.

"The total audience exceeded 330,000 people, which cemented the event's status as one of the largest jazz festivals in the world. In addition to concerts, the program includes a business forum. It was attended by 1.5 thousand musicians and experts," said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.

The events took place, in particular, at VDNKh, in Zaryadye Park, on Gogol Boulevard, on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park. Dozens of bands from different Russian regions, including the Arkhangelsk Region and Primorsky Krai, performed in front of the guests. Townspeople and tourists could listen to compositions performed by both novice and famous musicians. And for residents of other cities, online broadcasts were conducted, which were viewed 3 million times.

103 winning ensembles of the All—Russian Youth Jazz Band Competition performed on the stages together with the professionals.

In addition, those who wished could attend vocal and dance classes on Chistoprudny Boulevard. They were organized in the workshops of the Theater Boulevard project.

A business forum was also held as part of the festival, which was joined by representatives from 11 countries. The central event was a discussion about jazz as an instrument of cultural diplomacy and international cooperation.

The founder and artistic director of the festival is People's Artist of Russia Igor Butman. The event is supported by the Moscow Government.

The festival was held as part of the "Summer in Moscow" project, the key cultural event of the season. The main theme of this year is "Time to be together".
