The State Duma proposed to make the matkapital program indefinite
On June 20, Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Fair Russia Party, proposed making the maternity capital program an indefinite measure to support Russian families.
"We need to stop the constant extensions of the program. Mother Capital is the most effective measure in our demography, our families really need it, this program should become permanent," he said in an interview with TASS.
Mironov also noted the need to expand the areas where funds from the maternity capital could be directed.
Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, said on June 8 that grandparents' capital, similar to maternal capital, could become a new measure of support in Russia. According to Butskaya, such a measure could contribute to a more active participation of the older generation in raising grandchildren and strengthening family ties. The MP noted that earlier retirement often allowed women to help their children after the appearance of grandchildren.
