On June 19, the central bank lowered its key rate to 14.25%, and the head of the regulator, Elvira Nabiullina, allowed it to increase in the future due to pro-inflationary risks. Kiev has launched an attack on Moscow again. Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a cease-fire mediated by the United States, Qatar and Iran, and American leader Donald Trump said Iran would not receive even "10 cents" from the United States. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The central bank lowered the key rate to 14.25%

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Russia has decided to reduce the key rate by 25 basis points to 14.25% per annum. The Central Bank noted that monetary conditions continue to gradually soften, but still remain tight. Inflation expectations remain elevated, which is why a steady slowdown in inflation may stall. According to the regulator's forecast, annual inflation will decrease to 4.5–5.5% in 2026 and reach the target of 4% in the second half of 2026. Investor activity has increased slightly after the cooling off at the beginning of the year, but remains subdued.

The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said at a press conference that in July the regulator would revise the forecast for the key rate. She admitted that in the future, the regulator may need to pause in further decisions, and the rate trajectory may be revised "up rather than down" due to increased pro-inflationary risks. Nabiullina stressed that only a balanced approach, especially in conditions of high uncertainty, will achieve a sustainable result and stabilize inflation at a low level.

Trump announced his intention not to allocate money to Iran

Trump said on the Truth Social network that Iran would not receive any funds from Washington.

"It wasn't us who didn't go to the meeting out of desperation, but Iran. They're finished. We will determine how these 60 days [of further negotiations] will go. They won't get any money, not even 10 cents!" he wrote.

Trump also said that the military conflict has significantly weakened Iran: according to him, the country has lost a significant part of its capabilities in the field of aviation, naval forces, air defense and radar control.

In addition, the American leader criticized his political opponents, who, according to him, claim that Iran is in a better position than a few months ago. Earlier, Trump called the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran an unconditional surrender of Tehran.

Putin discussed foreign policy issues with the Security Council

Putin held an operational meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council to discuss foreign policy issues. The main report on one of the directions of foreign policy was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and head of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin.

Israel and Hezbollah agree to cease-fire

A senior U.S. official told Reuters that Israel and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah had reached an agreement to halt hostilities from 4 p.m. local time (coincides with Moscow time) on Friday, June 19. According to the source, negotiators from the United States and Qatar came to an agreement with the assistance of Iran. A Reuters correspondent noted that the parties "are in a state of ceasefire" after the shootout that took place in the afternoon. The truce agreement was also confirmed by the Israeli side.

As Al Jazeera later reported, Israel launched attacks on Lebanese territory after the agreement came into force. Israeli airstrikes and artillery attacks were reported in southern Lebanon after 4 p.m. At least 12 Israeli airstrikes were recorded in the areas of Kfar Rehman, Nabatiya al-Fawqa, Kfar Sir, Jabal al-Rafi, Al-Rayhan, Adshit and other settlements, and artillery shelling continued in Nabatiya and surrounding areas. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 47 people have been killed and 97 others injured since the beginning of the day as a result of Israeli strikes.

Massive UAV attack on Moscow

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the air defense forces repelled a massive drone attack on the capital. Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an attack using 76 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Prior to this strike, 37 drones flying in the direction of the city were shot down over Moscow and the Moscow region. The wreckage of the vehicles fell in several areas, emergency services are working on the ground.

Summary of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the liberation of the settlement of Yurkovka in the Donetsk People's Republic by units of the Southern Group of Forces. Over the past week, five settlements in the region have come under the control of Russian troops. During the week, 627 buildings were liberated in Konstantinovka, more than 540 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over 160 units of weapons and equipment, as well as 116 vehicles were destroyed. Assault groups continue fighting in the southwestern part of the city and are advancing in the Nikolaevsky microdistrict.

The aerospace forces, with a direct hit from a FAB-3000 aerial bomb, destroyed the temporary deployment point of the 63rd mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Krasnolimansk direction, eliminating up to 20 militants. The assault groups of the 25th army are creating a "fire bag" for the remnants of the Ukrainian formations in Krasny Liman, and the calculation of the troops of unmanned systems destroyed a hidden training and launching point for drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dobropolsky direction.

Lavrov allowed a change in the US approach to the settlement in Ukraine

At a press conference following talks with Madagascar's Foreign Minister Alice Ndiaye, Lavrov said that Russia has a feeling of a possible change in the US approach to resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He recalled that changes had already taken place after the meeting in Anchorage, where certain understandings were reached.

At the same time, Lavrov noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently stated that Washington cannot be a mediator because it fully supports Ukraine. The Minister stressed that the United States continues to support Ukraine through the maintenance of sanctions against Russia and special assistance programs for the military-industrial sector of Ukraine. At the same time, Lavrov noted that the Trump administration, after returning to the White House, had never denied the need for dialogue with Russia.
