Denmark turned out to be the most expensive country to live in the European Union

In 2025, the price level for goods and services in Denmark became the highest in the European Union (EU) and reached 140% of the EU average. This was reported on the Eurostat website on June 18.

In Ireland, the same indicator was 136%, and in Luxembourg — 132%. The lowest price levels were recorded in Bulgaria — 63%, Romania — 65% and Poland — 73%. It is noted that last year housing costs, the largest household expenditure item, ranged from 190% of the EU average in Ireland to 41% in Bulgaria.

The second most important category of expenses is food and non—alcoholic beverages. The highest prices were recorded in Luxembourg — 122% of the EU average, and the lowest in Romania -80%.
