On June 18, Finnish President Alexander Stubb expressed doubt that Russia was preparing to attack NATO countries.

"As president, commander—in—chief and just a Finn, I don't see any evidence that this (Attack) can happen," Stubb said in an interview with the Hufvudstadsbladet newspaper.

This is how the Finnish leader commented on the words of the commander-in-chief of the Swedish armed forces, Mikael Klasson, who had previously claimed that Russia could allegedly attack NATO. Stubb stressed that Russia would not challenge NATO, given the current situation in Ukraine.

Karl Masala, a German political scientist and professor at the Bundeswehr University of Munich, expressed doubts about the need to rearm NATO after Finnish President Alexander Stubb said there was no threat of an attack from Russia.

Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said in an interview with Izvestia on June 5 that the rhetoric of the European authorities about the need to prepare for a "war with Russia" is aimed at distracting citizens from economic problems. According to Kneissl, any state needs a strong army in case of a variety of situations, including natural disasters. However, the motivation broadcast in the EU countries "raises questions," she stressed.
