AvtoVAZ's SKM cars have been converted into ambulances

AvtoVAZ presented promising medical vehicles based on the SKM M7 and M9 models. Their public presentation will take place in St. Petersburg as part of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Congress, the company's press service reported on June 18. The cars were prepared by the partner company Promtech.

The Medical Service's SKM M7 minivan combines the ability to transport patients, medical staff, and medical supplies without complicated interior manipulation. A folding medical gurney is installed in the cabin and a place for two medical stowage is provided. If it is necessary to transport a bedridden patient, the cabin transforms into a triple version in 45 seconds. The car is equipped with a two-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 137 hp and a five-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive.

The medical SKM M9, with a length of almost 5.4 m, is a promising model that serves as a universal base for creating Class B ambulances with a variety of equipment. The patient on the gurney and the medical staff are freely accommodated inside. An automatic transmission, an independent front suspension and a reserve of internal space allow not only to accompany the patient, but also to provide him with medical care, including while driving, the company noted. The car is equipped with a two-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 150 hp and a nine-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive.

The guests of the event will also be shown a serial five-meter medical machine based on Lada Granta KUB, which is mass-supplied to work at ambulance stations in various regions of the country. It has a medical salon separated from the cabin, which houses a wheelchair and a place for an accompanying medic. Inside there is a set of equipment, including an oxygen tank. The car is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 90 hp and a five-speed manual transmission.

How is the quality control system at the Tolyatti plant?

The SKM M9 model was first introduced on May 26, and it is planned to be produced at production sites in Nizhny Novgorod and Tolyatti. The range will include four modifications: a seven- and eight-seater minivan, a nine-seater minibus and a van. On May 18, AvtoVAZ announced the start of shipments of SKM M7 light commercial vehicles to the Lada Business dealer network, with the recommended retail price starting at 2.86 million rubles.
