Buguruslansky district Court sentenced Sergey Karpuk to 18 years in a high-security penal colony in a rape and murder case. This was announced on June 18 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The term of detention in the pre-trial detention center will be credited to the convicted person at the rate of one day per day. The court also imposed compulsory medical measures on the Buguruslan maniac.

Compensation for moral damage was collected from the convict: 3.5 million rubles in favor of the Gabdrakhmanov family and 3.5 million rubles in favor of the widower Andrei Kuznetsov. Karpuk told reporters that he had indicated all the burial sites of the victims, but not all the bodies could be found.

At the end of May, a court in Tyumen arrested a man who is suspected of attempting to abuse a young girl in an entrance hall. It was clarified that he was charged under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Other sexual acts using the helpless state of the victim if they are committed against a person under the age of fourteen").
