Two people were convicted for the deaths of a mother and her children in a fire in Kolyma

The head and installer of a fire detector installation company was convicted in the Magadan region for the deaths of a woman and two children as a result of a fire. The court found that the services were performed in bad faith.

The tragedy occurred in Susuman in May 2023. There was a fire in the apartment, but the alarm did not work. A woman and children were poisoned by carbon monoxide, MagadanMedia news agency writes.

According to the court, the contract with MVS LLC was concluded by the city district administration in 2021. The company had to install fire detectors and ensure their maintenance. At the same time, false information was entered into the acts, and the work was not completed in full.

The head and installer of the company were convicted of violating safety requirements. The installer was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison to serve his sentence in a general regime colony.
In addition, the head of the company was found guilty of fraud using his official position. He was sentenced to six years in prison.
