- The Interior Ministry reported on the help of fraud couriers in uncovering their own crimes
In some cases, the detention of fraud couriers in Moscow allows the police to reach victims who are not even aware of the fact of fraud and uncover the crimes being committed. This was announced on June 18 by Vladimir Vasenin, head of the press service of the Moscow Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"We detain the courier, he shows where he took the money. With the help of surveillance cameras, we have quite a wide range of possibilities in this matter. And when we come home to a victim, for example, a pensioner, and start talking to him, we understand a very simple thing. The pensioner did not even think to contact the police. And in general, he did not know that he was being deceived," he said in an interview with TASS.
Thus, as Vasenin pointed out, couriers help to solve crimes that they have committed themselves. He stressed that fraud couriers are liable in accordance with art. 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud") or art. 158 of the Criminal Code ("Theft").
In other cases, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, citizens, including taxi drivers and delivery services, themselves are unaware of the contents of the parcels they are transporting. At the same time, some couriers who come to the victims and find the money report it to the police.
"Thus, they not only helped to prevent the crime, but also to return quite large and large sums," Vasenin said.
The expert of the "Popular Front. Galaktion Kucava Analytics reported on June 18 that fraudsters are creating fake websites and messenger channels where they offer users supposedly scarce train tickets. He clarified that scammers take advantage of the rush of passengers who urgently need to purchase tickets, and require payment to an individual's card or through fake payment systems.
