Parents and children of combat veterans with group I or II disabilities have the right to take off-schedule leave at the same time as a serviceman's leave. Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets, Associate Professor of the Basic Department of Human Resource Management at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told about this on June 18.

"The right to leave outside the vacation schedule is granted to one of the parents or one of the children of a combat veteran recognized as a disabled person of group I or II," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The expert explained that the changes in legislation, which came into force on June 5, 2026, make it possible to take leave at the same time as a serviceman, subject to continued service.

Ivanova-Shvets clarified that the employer is obliged to take such a statement into account and provide leave at a convenient time for the employee when confirming the relevant status with documents.

On May 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved unified basic regional measures to support veterans of a special military operation and their families. It was noted that the head of state instructed to provide special operation participants with privileges to visit cultural and sports facilities. Assistance with the conclusion of a social contract and additional guarantees of free legal aid are also provided.
