Uzbekistan postponed the start of the working day due to the national team's match at the 2026 World Cup

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to postpone the start of the working day in government organizations on Thursday, June 18, to 10.00 (8.00 Moscow time) due to the match of the national team at the World Cup. This was announced on June 17 by the press secretary of the head of state Sherzod Asadov.

"To create conditions for our fans, given that these matches start quite early in Uzbek time, our president has set the start of tomorrow's working day from 10.00 a.m.," Asadov said on the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

He specified that private enterprises of the country will independently determine the schedule of work on this day. The press secretary also noted that the head of state himself plans to monitor the meeting.

"Of course, our esteemed president, like our 40 million people, is very much looking forward to this match. <...> Tomorrow the President will watch this match with his family, along with his grandchildren," Sherzod Asadov added.

For the first time in its history, the national team of Uzbekistan made it to the final of the world championship. In Group K, the team will face Portugal, DR Congo and Colombia. The first match against the Colombians will begin on June 18 at 7.00 local time (5.00 Moscow time).

On June 16, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidi instructed all government agencies to start work on June 17 at 10:00 a.m. local time (coincides with Moscow time) due to the 2026 World Cup match between the national teams of Iraq and Norway.
