- Deesen urged Britain to reflect on the consequences of the incident in the English Channel
The British government should think about the consequences of the incident involving the Russian Navy frigate Admiral Grigorovich and a British yacht in the English Channel. This was announced on June 17 by Norwegian Professor Glenn Diesen.
"The UK is engaged in piracy and commits indirect attacks on Russian ships, but it seems to be perplexed when these actions lead to consequences," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Diesen stressed that the British side should review its policy regarding incidents at sea and take into account the possible reaction to such collisions.
On April 16, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the yacht Bright Future, flying the flag of Great Britain, made a dangerous approach to the Admiral Grigorovich in the English Channel. The Russian sailors tried to contact the ship and used flares, but the yacht continued to approach. Then the crew of the frigate was forced to fire warning shots, after which Bright Future changed course and began to move away.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded by posting a map of Moscow showing the British Embassy in Russia, which is located on Luhansk People's Republic Square near the Moskva River embankment. She asked ironically which route the Admiral Grigorovich was going to take back to Russia.
