Trump allowed a sharp decline in oil prices after the Iran deal
After the conclusion of the US-Iran deal, oil prices will be much lower than before the start of the war, US President Donald Trump said on June 17 during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Evian, France, during the summit of the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) country.
The American leader noted that the stock market is very pleased with the situation when oil prices approached the pre-crisis level of $ 73-74.
"The stock market skyrocketed, and oil prices plummeted. I think they are already somewhere in the region of $70. <...> I think oil prices may become lower than they were before the war," Trump said.
He added that in the next day or two, the Strait of Hormuz will be fully open to navigation. The head of the White House called the future agreement with Iran very powerful, but warned that if he "does not like" how the Iranian authorities comply with the deal, the United States will resume attacks on the Islamic Republic.
"They will never have nuclear weapons. So this is a very, very strong agreement. This is a very strong deal. And it seems that most people are very happy. <... However, if I don't like the memorandum, if they behave badly, we will start dropping bombs right at their heads again, okay? Because they didn't listen to us for 47 years," the Reuters news agency quoted Trump as saying.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced on June 14 that the agreement between the United States and Iran will be signed on June 19 in Switzerland. After intense negotiations, the parties managed to come to a common agreement: the fighting must be completed completely in all areas of the confrontation, including in Lebanon. The Strait of Hormuz is also expected to open. On the same day, Trump confirmed the conclusion of a deal with Iran and announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
