The Vietnamese Foreign Minister called the relationship with the Russian Federation long-standing and strong

The strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam is the result of a long-standing and strong relationship that is mutually respected by the authorities and people of the two countries. This was stated by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Chun in an interview with Izvestia correspondent Maxim Prikhoda on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Kazan on June 17.

"Today, Russia and Vietnam are comprehensive strategic partners. We have common interests on many important regional and international issues. We successfully cooperate in almost all areas in the interests of both countries, as well as in the interests of peace, security and development in the regions and around the world," he said.

The Minister noted that cooperation is actively developing now, but Vietnam wants to expand it even more. We are talking about trade, investment, energy, resources, shipbuilding and many other areas.

Le Hoai Chun also noted that strong cultural and tourist cooperation has been built between the countries. According to him, these areas could also be expanded, as Russian culture is highly appreciated in Vietnam.

The main result of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic to Russia was an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant.

On March 23, Moscow and Hanoi signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of two units of the Ninh Thuan-1 nuclear power plant (NPP) with a total capacity of 2.4 thousand MW. The document was signed by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation, and Chan Van Shon, Minister and Head of the Chancellery of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin on March 25, confirmed his intention to pay an official visit to the republic. He also stressed that Vietnam has always remained a reliable partner for the Russian Federation, and the bilateral relations, which have passed the test of time, are of the nature of deep friendship.
