The main prohibitions on the day of the Honey Savior are not related to household restrictions, but to the spiritual mood of a person. On this holiday, it is important to avoid quarrels, anger and a formal attitude to faith, not to neglect fasting and prayer. The dean of the Baltai district of the Saratov diocese, Priest Oleg Zhilyakov, told Izvestia about this.

The priest explained that the Honey Feast, which opens a series of August holidays, is associated in the church tradition with the Wearing down of the precious trees of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord. The name "Honey" was fixed for this day due to the custom of consecrating honey from a new harvest, but the holiday itself has a deeper spiritual meaning.

"The church does not set strict household prohibitions on this day, but there is something that is really unacceptable for a Christian, such as anger, irritation, quarrels, and condemnation of other people," Zhilyakov stressed.

He noted that on the day of the holiday, it is important for believers to strive for inner peace and attention to their spiritual life. According to the priest, any external traditions lose their significance if a person forgets about the main thing — the state of his soul.

"Sometimes people perceive a holiday as an excuse to consecrate honey, and that's the end of it. But this is a superficial approach. It is much more important to come to the temple, to pray, to try to change your inner state," he said.

Zhilyakov also recalled that the Dormition Fast— one of the strictest fasts in the Orthodox tradition, begins with the Honey of the Savior, which is celebrated on August 14. During this period, believers limit themselves to food and entertainment, trying to devote more time to prayer, repentance and good deeds.

Earlier, the priest listed the main traditions related to the consecration of honey and nuts.
