The calculation of the Buk-M3 air defense system destroyed over 40 enemy air targets in its area.

Military personnel of the Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Center group of forces destroyed more than 40 air targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) of various types in the Dobropolsky area of the special military operation (SVO) during combat duty. This was announced on June 17 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Buk-M3 is designed to shoot down high-speed targets, it can hit objects at altitudes up to 35 km, with a range of up to 50-60 km, and the speed characteristics of all targets may vary. <...> This is an updated complex that has replaced the Buk-M2 <...>...> The work is now automated, the complex automatically captures targets and accompanies them," said Anton Osipov, head of the anti—aircraft missile crew.

It is noted that combat work is carried out around the clock. The modern element base and improved characteristics of the Buk-M3 air defense system ensure guaranteed destruction of high-speed and highly maneuverable air targets at distances up to 70 km. The destroyed objects include guided aerial bombs (UAB) and multiple launch rocket systems HIMARS. The high mobility of the complex and the efficiency of the calculation make it possible to open the air situation in a timely manner and strike targets at distant approaches to the covered areas.

"We go on combat duty, turn on the equipment, turn on the radar antenna, which captures and intercepts the signals of targets. <...> After the command from the command post, we work on these targets. A target pops up on our screen, shows the range, height, and size of the target, after which it is captured, a signal is sent to the second vehicle, from which missiles descend, after which we hit the target," said senior operator Azamat Muminov.

Dmitry Korotaev, the driver, noted that the car itself has two modes of operation: 720 and 810 horsepower, moves at speeds from 40 to 60 km/ h, depending on the road. According to him, the equipment is more difficult to move in the slush, but it still copes with its task.

The professionalism of the military personnel of the Center group of forces ensures reliable protection of the positions of artillery and assault units, logistics routes and rear areas from enemy air attacks in the Dobropolsky area of the SVR.
