On June 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky again called for an accelerated procedure for the country's admission to the European Union (EU) at the G7 summit.

"I know that not all leaders like this format — accelerated — because they want very clear, clear steps for everyone. But we are not all, with all due respect to everyone," the Euronews portal quotes the Ukrainian leader.

According to Zelensky, the EU will suspend the accession process after the end of the conflict with Russia, so concrete steps from the European side are needed now.

From the joint statement of June 16 by the G7 leaders, whose summit is being held in France, it follows that the G7 member countries intend to expand military assistance to Ukraine by increasing the supply of air defense systems and long–range complexes. The G7 countries also plan to provide additional support to Kiev's energy sector to help the country survive the coming winter.
