Russia noted Turkey's role in the conflict settlement

Russia appreciates Turkey's efforts to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on June 16 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

"We appreciate the sincere interest of our Turkish friends in helping to find a just and sustainable long—term settlement of the situation around Ukraine," Lavrov said.

Fidan, in turn, confirmed Ankara's willingness to participate in mediation efforts.

The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that relations between Moscow and Ankara continue to strengthen and move to the institutional level.

He stressed that the dialogue between the two countries is developing in accordance with the tasks set by the leaders of the two states.

Fidan added that the parties maintain regular high-level contacts and cooperate in the fields of economy, energy and diplomacy.

Lavrov on the prospects of Ukraine's accession to the EU

Lavrov said that Ukraine's possible accession to the European Union (EU) could lead to serious internal consequences for the union.

"They will just fall apart then," he said, commenting on the prospects for EU enlargement.

According to him, disagreements are growing within the EU regarding the future integration project and its possible militarization.

Statements about Zelensky and diplomacy

The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in his opinion, relies on public statements instead of classical diplomacy.

He described this line as "megaphone diplomacy" and noted that Kiev was sending contradictory signals.
