Yulia Morodina, a resident of the Kuban village of Solenoe, who is raising nine children, proposed in a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 16 to establish an official Day of a large family in the country.

"Today, large families are gradually becoming a pillar and a reference point for the whole of Russia. But, unfortunately, we still do not have our own official holiday — the Day of a large family. At the same time, in many regions it has already developed on the popular initiative <...> Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, I dare to appeal to you with a request to establish an official Day of a large family in Russia," RT quotes the text of Morodina's letter.

Morodina proposed to establish this holiday in September. She also stressed the importance of supporting large families at the state level.

Olga Golyshenkova, Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Economics and Labor Relations, said on June 16 that it would be more rational for parents with many children to provide flexible working hours instead of additional vacation days. She stressed that many parents may not need additional vacation days.
