Vance noted the general nature of the U.S.-Iran memorandum.
The memorandum between the United States and Iran is of a general nature, the details will be finalized during the technical stage of the negotiations. This was announced on June 15 by American Vice President J. D. Vance.
"The memorandum of Understanding takes about one and a half pages, so it is a fairly general document. However, all these issues were an important part of our discussions with the Iranian side. In a number of areas, we still have to work out the details during the technical stage of the negotiations," he stressed in an interview with the American television channel CNN.
According to Vance, the document contains a clause according to which Tehran, as well as Washington, undertakes obligations to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East. In addition, the positive side of the developed scheme is that the United States has the initiative and leverage. The Vice president also expressed hope that Iran would choose the path of closer economic cooperation.
"I can say that we have structured this deal in such a way that the benefits for them will arise only if we receive the benefits," Vance concluded.
Vance said on June 15 that the memorandum between Washington and Tehran had been signed electronically. On the same day, US President Donald Trump announced that the waters of the Strait of Hormuz had been partially unblocked. He also noted that the United States may gradually begin lifting sanctions against Iran, provided that Tehran fulfills what is expected of it under the agreements.
Trump said on the same day that the ships, some of which carry oil, had already begun moving along the "safe and clean" southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. He announced the imminent unblocking of this area the day before, on the day when he confirmed the conclusion of the deal with Iran and pointed out the ability to turn Washington into the "guardian" of the entire Middle East for 20% of the region's revenues.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, noted on the same day that Moscow was counting on the materialization of encouraging statements on Tehran, which were made both by himself, Washington and Islamabad.
