The nuclear icebreaker "50 years of Victory" returned to the port of Murmansk

The nuclear-powered icebreaker 50 Years of Victory has completed its seasonal shipwrecking mission and returned to its home port of Murmansk. FSUE Atomflot announced this on its page on the VKontakte social network on Monday, June 15.

During the winter-spring navigation, the crew of the nuclear-powered vessel navigated 90 vessels through the ice. Now the ship will be preparing for expeditions to the North Pole.

According to Bi-port news agency, the start of the first expedition lasting 13 days is scheduled for July 2. The cost of a cabin on an icebreaker starts from 3.6 million rubles.

At the ceremony, the President noted the importance of developing the Transarctic corridor from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok and named Russia's key priorities in the Arctic.

Earlier in June, the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Andrei Puchkov, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the rhythmic fulfillment of the state defense order, the construction of nuclear icebreakers and the modernization of shipyards. Puchkov said that the implementation of the largest nuclear icebreaker construction program in the country's history continues in the civil sector: Yakutia has already been commissioned, the construction of Chukotka, Leningrad and Stalingrad is being completed. Four submarines were transferred to the Navy, as well as the first combat icebreaker Ivan Papanin.
