The doctor explained the lack of effect of the treatment with homeopathy

Almira Plieva, a pediatrician at DocDeti, told on Monday, June 15, why homeopathy treatment is ineffective.

The specialist told the Mail Health that homeopathic medicines are created by diluting the active ingredient so strongly that there is often not a single molecule in the final product, so there is no therapeutic effect.

She added that research shows that if homeopathy helps, it is only through self-suggestion or natural recovery.

Homeopathic remedies are essentially safe, as they are just sugar or water without active ingredients. They will not cause harm if they are used for conditions that go away on their own, for example, acute respiratory viral infections.

But the danger arises in situations that require proven medical care: bacterial infections (sore throat, pneumonia), chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension), as well as oncological processes.

If homeopathy is used instead of proven treatment methods in serious cases, this can lead to three main dangers: lost time for effective therapy, waste of money, and direct risk to the patient's health and even life, Plieva concluded.

On May 20, Svetlana Burnatskaya, a general practitioner and occupational therapist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), told Izvestia that the main danger of homeopathy is that patients often abandon proven treatment methods in favor of ineffective drugs.

At the same time, Leonid Marianovsky, director of the non-profit partnership Manufacturers of Dietary Supplements, said that many doctors recommend homeopathic medicines, they have their own statistics, but there are no scientific statistics that would prove the effectiveness of such treatment.

In turn, homeopath Svetlana Popova said that surgical removal of the palatine tonsils in chronic tonsillitis is used as a last resort, RT reports.
