The Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced Roman Bukatkin, a local resident, who got behind the wheel of a carsharing car while intoxicated, drove to a bus stop and killed a woman. This is reported by the city prosecutor's office.
The hit-and-run occurred on August 7 last year on Lenin Avenue in Krasnoye Selo. In the area of house 108, a rented Kia Rio car driven by Bukatkin drove to a bus stop and hit two women, after which it crashed into a lighting pole.

The driver himself tried to escape, but was found near the scene of the accident with a broken leg and other injuries. The court found Bukatkin guilty under clauses "a, b, c" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person, committed by a person intoxicated and without a driver's license, associated with leaving the place of its commission." The man was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison to be served in a general regime colony. He has also been banned from driving for two years and 11 months.
