WSJ learned about the $1 billion investment in SpaceX from Australia's richest citizen

Australia's richest person, Gina Rinehart, through her company Hancock Prospecting, has acquired a stake in the American aerospace corporation SpaceX worth more than $1 billion. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on June 15.

Reinhart disclosed information about the investment in an email, and the source of the publication confirmed the specific amount of investments. This transaction was Hancock Prospecting's largest financial investment outside the iron ore mining sector.

The company's representatives explained that the investment in the project by American entrepreneur Elon Musk reflects confidence in it and underlines the need for further investment by Western countries in technology and innovation.

"We consider SpaceX to be a rare enterprise: run by a truly exceptional person, technically outstanding, and operating in industries of key importance and with long—term potential," said Rinehart.

The Rueters news agency reported on June 12 that Musk became the first dollar trillionaire in world history after the initial public offering (IPO) of his company SpaceX.
