Over the past three holidays and weekends (June 12-14), 1,005 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 102 people were killed and 1,251 injured. 86 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on June 15 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.

In the Vyazemsky district of the Khabarovsk Territory, a 35-year-old SUV driver in the evening on the 1st km of the regional highway "Entrance to the village of Kukelevo" decided to skip an adjustable railway crossing at a traffic light forbidding traffic, but collided with a freight train. The driver of the car was killed in the accident, three of his passengers were injured and ended up in the hospital.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists of the importance of following the rules of passage of railway crossings, as this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate and pay maximum attention. Despite this, some drivers try to pass in front of a nearby train or locomotive. Trying to gain a few seconds of travel, they often endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives and health of their own passengers, railway staff, passengers on commuter trains and long-distance trains.

In addition, over the past three days, 36 bus accidents have been recorded, in which three people were killed, and 80 more road users, including two children, required medical care. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

So, in the Moscow region, on the 2nd km of the Moscow Small Ring - Agafonovo – Kubinka highway (Lutsinskoe Highway) highway, a 53–year-old truck driver drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place during the daytime, where he collided with a bus en route Zvenigorod – Troitskoe with 26 passengers in the cabin. As a result of the accident, two bus passengers were killed, 11 were hospitalized with injuries, and 13 more bus passengers were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.

As a result of 169 accidents involving pedestrians, 16 people were killed, and 158 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 49 child pedestrians among the injured, 36 of them were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 42 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 127 outside their area of operation.

187 accidents involving minors were registered, 190 young road users were injured, including 74 passengers and 32 motor vehicle drivers. Three children driving an individual mobility vehicle and a motorcycle were killed. So, in the evening in one of the rural settlements of the Sverdlovsk region, an 11-year-old schoolboy on a 500-watt electric scooter overturned on the roadway due to lack of driving skills and died.

In Primorsky Krai, also in the evening, in one of the villages, a 16-year-old driver of an unregistered road motorcycle exceeded the speed limit and collided with a passenger car moving in front of him, the driver of which began to turn around. The young motorcyclist died.

In Ryazan, a 20-year-old passenger car driver with less than one year of driving experience collided with a cross-country motorcycle driven by a 16-year-old teenager at a controlled intersection when turning left. As a result of the accident, the ninth-grader died, dying some time later in the hospital. Both of the dead schoolchildren were traveling by motorized transport in motorcycle helmets, but did not have driver's licenses.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own in the summer, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting driving without appropriate rights and driving skills. Administrative responsibility is provided for providing the opportunity to drive vehicles to children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.

"The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that minors can drive mopeds and motorcycles on public roads no earlier than the age of 16 after completing training and obtaining a driver's license. Cross-country motorcycles and pitbikes, which are sports equipment, should only be used on specialized tracks and only for motor sports. It is strictly forbidden to use them on ordinary roads, as well as in populated areas. Remember that the lack of control over the behavior and summer leisure of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The death rate in road accidents is planned to be reduced by one and a half times by 2030.

According to operational information, in Russia during the first decade of summer (from June 1 to June 10) of this year, 259 accidents involving child passengers occurred, in which 17 children and 292 teenagers were killed and 292 injured. On June 8, the State Traffic Inspectorate reported that the first summer weekends were marked by an increase in accidents involving minors.
