Former Moldovan president and leader of the opposition Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said that in April, the West and Ukraine attempted to use Transnistria to create a second front against Russia. He announced this on June 15.

"Given the conflict in Ukraine, the Transnistrian issue has become more acute. After February 2022, it was important for the West and Ukraine to open a second front in order to involve Russia in military operations in areas other than Donbass and Lugansk. We know for sure that such attempts were made in the Transnistrian direction in April," Dodon said in an interview with TASS.

He added that at that stage it was possible to prevent the development of events. Dodon recalled that Georgia had previously announced possible calls from the West to open a second front with Russia.
