Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, said that Kiev's actions would not be able to change the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the battlefield, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on June 14.

The Ukrainian conflict

During the conversation, the leaders discussed the situation around the Ukrainian conflict. The US President reiterated his support for an early cessation of hostilities and declared his readiness to work with European partners and Kiev on this issue.

"For his part, Vladimir Putin pursued the idea that no attempts by the Kiev regime to strike at peaceful infrastructure in Russia would change the critical situation for Ukraine on the battlefield," the Kremlin's press service quoted Ushakov as saying.

Attacks on civilian targets

The Russian leader's aide noted that the conversation also touched upon the topic of recent strikes on civilian targets in Russia. According to him, the parties agreed that such actions do not contribute to the settlement of the conflict.
