"It is recommended to purchase bicycles in specialized stores and from trusted sellers. Before buying, it is necessary to carefully inspect the product, check its completeness and make sure that there are no visible defects," RIA Novosti quotes Rospotrebnadzor as saying.

The department also drew attention to the steering: it must be stable. For a safe ride, among other things, a serviceable braking system is required. Nodes, parts and joints must be strong and reliable, and sharp edges and dangerous protruding elements are not allowed on the frame.

If defects are found after the purchase, the buyer has the right to demand a replacement of the product, a proportionate reduction in price, free removal of defects, or to cancel the purchase agreement and refund the money, the department stressed.
