- FIFA has asked the Egyptian national team to change their uniforms before the 2026 World Cup.
Before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) appealed to the Egyptian national team to change their uniforms. This was announced on June 13 by the Daily Sports (DS) media project.
The claims allegedly concerned the stars above the logo of the Egyptian Football Federation, which are placed on the players' T-shirts. They are present on the uniform in honor of Egypt's record seven victories in the African Cup of Nations, the continental football championship. FIFA disagreed with the design, citing its own rules.
"FIFA has made it clear that the stars depicted on the T—shirts of the national teams during the tournament are intended strictly for the winners of the World Cup, and not for achievements at the continental level," the portal writes.
The international federation also drew attention to the gold color, which is used to write the names of players and their numbers. FIFA asked to replace it with a standard design in accordance with the World Cup regulations.
The British newspaper Daily Mail reported on June 12 that the England national team was the victim of a robbery at the 2026 World Cup. Players' cleats, official tournament balls and other sports equipment were stolen from the team. Security personnel suggest that the drivers who were assigned to deliver the equipment may be involved in the theft.
The 2026 World Cup takes place from June 11 to July 19 in three countries at once — the USA, Canada and Mexico. This time, a record number of national teams are participating in the World Cup — 48 teams.
